Small trip to Rotterdam!
Yesterday Twan and I have been on a small trip to Rotterdam. Our trip started sadly with rain, so we decided to start in the Markthal. The place for food and drinks in Rotterdam. As you can see in the pictures on the right.
The food is the nicest thing to photograph there, but that was not very easy. It was hard because of the low-light conditions and the great amount of people. So from all photos that were made there are only four left. I made this pictures with my compact camera. I love the photo with the dragon fruit because is so colorful and there is a good depth of field. It is not completely sharp but it doesn’t bother me much.
Erasmusbrug
After the Markthal we went to the subway station Wilhelminaplein in Rotterdam. There we met Esther and her husband Bram. They are more experienced photographers and today they are going to give us some tips and tricks on making better pictures.
We started at the Erasmusbrug. Here we had a talk about compositions and how to make sharp photos. In between the rain I started with my Nikon D3500 camera and the AF-P NIKKOR 18-55mm. We took several different pictures and than we walked to a spot on the bridge. This spot was a nice place for my next picture.
Wilhelminaplein
After making the picture of the Erasmusbrug it started to rain and we went to the subway station Wilhelminaplein. This subway station is a great spot to make pictures. There is a flat escalator with a very nice shape and a mirror. Those two items make a great photo.
In the first picture we we’re using the reflection the mirror to duplicate the flat escalator. The symmetry in the picture makes it great. The second picture is made on the flat escalator with a long exposure.
Rotterdam Blaak
Next we went to Rotterdam Blaak. Here we did go to the train station. There was a new blue thing. Some of us liked it very much, I found it a bit boring but I still uploaded one of that photos because it is symmetrical.
In the station Blaak I made a picture I really like. It is shown as the header of this post. Do you see the secret of this photo?
Centraal Station Rotterdam
We went to Central Station with the tram. When we arrived we went to eat and drink something at a grand-cafe. Here we talked a lot about photography and our camera gear. After the talking and eating it was blue hour and a great time to make some photos of Central Station. Here I made different kind of photos and the ones with long exposure I like the most.
Blijdorp Rotterdam
The last place we went was Blijdorp subway station. Here was a large photogenic hall where we made photos. At this location I tried something new. I made a long exposure photo on the escalator. I had to do it a few times but the result is a really nice picture.
Going home
So around seven o’clock we decided to end our day and went home. I hope you like my photos and my story. If you have any questions or feedback, let me know in the comment down below. I like to thank Esther and Bram for their tips and tricks on photography!
